First-stage intercoolers in Cameron centrifugal compressor systems reduce air temperature after initial compression, limiting thermal load on subsequent stages. Intercoolers such as PGM3793922-2113 are applied where stable interstage cooling supports efficient multi-stage compression. During extended operation, heat transfer degradation may increase interstage temperatures. From a replacement and service perspective, planned intercooler replacement during scheduled maintenance restores original thermal performance and protects downstream compressor components.
