Third-stage intercoolers used in IHI TRE centrifugal compressors reduce air temperature at later compression stages, where thermal load is highest. Copper tube and aluminum fin constructions are applied to support effective heat exchange. Over extended operation, fouling and thermal fatigue may reduce cooling efficiency.
